Description
Noodle & Strudel – Bonded Pair (Special Needs Kittens)
Age: 10 months Sex: Female (both spayed) Breed: Domestic Shorthair Colors: Noodle – Gray Tabby • Strudel – Black/White Status: Bonded Pair – Must Be Adopted Together
Noodle and Strudel are two extraordinary little sisters who have grown into the hearts of every volunteer at HCHS. They may be small for their age and have a few special needs, but they live life with the joy, curiosity, and silliness of any ordinary kitten.
Their Medical Needs (Explained Simply:
Both kittens were born with microphthalmia, meaning their eyes didn’t fully develop. Noodle is partially sighted and Strudel is blind. They also have OU corneal scarring, which makes their vision limited or, in some situations, nearly absent. Despite this, they navigate their world beautifully — playing, exploring, chasing toys, and greeting people with confidence.
Strudel also has bilateral luxating patellas (wobbly kneecaps), with one knee more affected than the other. She gets around well, but she may have a quirky gait and will benefit from joint supplements and occasional pain management as needed.
How They Function Day to Day:
Unless you were told, you’d never guess these girls can’t see well. They:
- Play with toys
- Investigate new spaces
- Follow voices and footsteps
- Climb into laps
- Navigate rooms they’ve never been in
- Move confidently as long as their environment stays consistent
They rely on sound, scent, memory, and each other — and they thrive.
Personalities:
These girls are sweet, social, and incredibly affectionate. They adore people, melt into cuddles, and greet volunteers with chirps and purrs. They’re gentle, trusting, and endlessly curious. Noodle is the slightly braver explorer, while Strudel is the snuggler who likes to check in before adventuring. Together, they make a perfect balance.
Why They’re Special:
Noodle and Strudel are the kind of kittens who remind you how resilient animals can be. They don’t know they’re different — they simply know they’re loved. They’ve become volunteer favorites, not because of their medical needs, but because of their sweetness, bravery, and the way they lean on each other.
